St. Paul's Players Adlington are busy preparing for their next show, 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee' which promises to be something completely different. Spelling Bee is set in the fictitious Putnam County and is an insight into the competitive nature of an America tradition, the spelling bee.

The show follows the trials and tribulations of a number of spellers as they grapple with their differences, similarities and emotions through the bee. All of the characters can be seen as eccentric but all have their own story to tell, fears of not fitting in or pushy same sex parents. The show is very funny and promises to be completely different every night as a number of 'spellers' are required from the audience. The young, enthusiastic and very talented cast are working incredibly hard and producing a show that will have the audience laughing from start to finish.

The show is being directed by Beth Eccleshare, principal of Rhapsody Academy, who is also directing one of the Bolton Octagon's community pieces in the middle of September. Beth has always wanted to direct Spelling Bee and thought St. Paul's would be the perfect place to do it. The music is being organised and managed by the very talented James Eccleshare who happens to be Beth's husband, it is the first time they have worked together on a project since being married and has so far only caused one minor fall out over a piano and its damaged leg!

The music is fantastic with some excellent numbers and some very emotive sections this coupled with the very funny and imaginative script added to a certain amount of improvisation and variations with different 'spellers' each night promises to create a fantastic show and one not to be missed. The show runs from the 2nd to the 5th of September at Adlington Community Centre, curtain up 19:30. Tickets are available from Adlington post office and Malcolm's Music Land Chorley or from the ticket hotline 07403287120 alternatively from the St. Paul's website, www.stpaulsplayers.co.uk
