Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company present...

Legally Blonde The Musical

LIVE at the Grand Theatre Blackpool

Wednesday 28 to Saturday 31 October 2015

Following their successes with Hairspray and Sister Act, Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company return to The Grand’s stage this October with the Olivier Award-winning Legally Blonde The Musical, set to be yet another must-see performance.

Based on the 2001 book by Amanda Brown and the film starring Reese Witherspoon, the stage show of Legally Blonde has been given an all-singing all-dancing twist. Legally Blonde The Musical first opened on Broadway in 2007, transferring to London’s West End two years later where it won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical.

Now, the hugely talented Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company have secured the rights as one of the few amateur companies to perform this show ahead of its general release to amateurs nationwide – yet another premiere for Blackpool presented by BFLOC.

Set in America, the story follows the perennially perky Elle Woods, a stereotypically blonde sorority sister who enjoys pampering herself and loves all things pink. But when her boyfriend dumps her for being “too blonde”, Elle travels across the country to Harvard Law School in a bid to prove her seriousness and find love. With her all-pink outfits and pet Chihuahua Bruiser in tow, she conquers the world of prejudice, law and even love in this feel-good, light-hearted romantic comedy musical.

Andrew Howard, Marketing Manager at The Grand said,

“Our links with the local amateur groups are very important to The Grand, and it is always a delight to welcome them onto our stage. As they have proved with Hairspray and Sister Act, Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company deliver hugely entertaining and vibrant new shows with top-notch performances time and time again. Legally Blonde will be no exception, and will certainly bring some light-hearted fun to the dark October nights.”

Legally Blonde the Musical runs at Blackpool Grand from Wednesday 28 to Saturday 31 October. Fans of the movie and of musicals should not miss the opportunity to watch this sorority sister strut her stuff in style!
