Ann Brown was due to perform her play Green Door on 2nd April at Square Chapel, Halifax, but due to COVID-19 had to cancel this performance. She now hopes to reach out to her audience by Live streaming her play with Make It Theatre on Saturday 16th May at 7.30pm.
Green Door is written and performed by Ann, directed by Daniel Brennan and tells the true story of her own experience of domestic abuse. It is not only entertaining, but Ann hopes that by telling her story and sharing her own experience, she may; by raising awareness, help to stop other people going through what she did. During the lockdown, there has been an increase in reports of abuse.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE FACTS
• Almost 1 in 3 women aged 16-59 will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime (Office for National Statistics)
• 2 women a week are killed by a current or former partner in England and Wales alone. (Office for National Statistics)

• The Police receive a domestic violence related call every 30 seconds; yet it is still estimated that less than 24% of domestic violence crime is reported to the Police. (HMIC)
All donations from Live streaming ‘Green Door’ will be split between two charities, ‘The Emily Davison Centre’ in Accrington, Lancashire, helps women and girls who need immediate help. The second charity ‘EdShift’ is a community interest company that delivers drama-based learning workshops to children in key stage 2,3 and 4 in a safe and fun environment, tackling sensitive subjects such as domestic abuse and child sexual exploitation.
