Liverpool will be celebrating this year’s pride July. Thursday night was the press launch for this year’s Liverpool Pride where guests were invited to learn who will be headlining and what and where things would happen this year. It was announced to guests, sponsors and partners at Thursday night’s VIP Press Launch at Avenue HQ, Mann Island that Sophie Ellis-Bextor would be headlining this year's Pride weekend.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s sprang to fame as a vocalist on Spiller’s number one single Groovejet then continued with Take Me Home but her most Iconic smash hit, Murder on the dancefloor.
Liverpool is becoming bigger and brighter every year and Pride has become one of the city’s major annual events.
The evening was hosted by Radio presenter Claire Simmo from Radio City She welcomed guests and officially launched this year’s Pride programme. Entertaining us was the fabulously fresh painted Velma Celli who sang us a few number one being this year’s popular hit This Is Me from the movie The Greatest Showman.
Joining Sophie Ellis-Bextor on the main stage will be international Drag icon and winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2018, Courtney Act. Bringing there fabulous heels to Liverpool this year will be the cast of the awarding musical Kinky Boots which will also be strutting into the Liverpool Empire theatre during Spring 2019.
The Liverpool Pride March officially kicks Liverpool Pride weekend on Saturday 28th July, starting from St George’s Hall and finishing at Moorfields.
Liverpool Pride will be a fantastic weekend for every single individual that attends. This year's theme is All Together Now which will complement a city-wide season of events and performances to mark Liverpool 2018 - marking 10 years since the city was named European Capital of the Culture 2008.
