You can’t get very far in our current political climate without hearing or reading something about Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. Performance poet Jess Green has created a show in which she shares her love and admiration for Corbyn, as well as various other views on a whole host of themes.
The show is incredibly varied in topics covered which means the show is really accessible to everyone. Although some of Green’s poems are more heavily political, they are still quite accessible regardless of how much prior knowledge you have of the Labour party and politics. Green’s poetry is relatable and very relevant which makes for a very entertaining, witty and funny evening out.
Jess Green as a performer is outstanding. She has the audience in the palm of her hands from the off and she is thoroughly engaging throughout. She is a fantastic storyteller and her selection of stories is spot on. They are varied, interesting and give a great insight into her history and experiences with regard to politics. Her passion for various issues overflows through the words she speaks as well as through her poetry.
The band support Green wonderfully. The music works brilliantly and is great fun to listen to. The orchestration is also brilliant, with nice variations in dynamics, and blending with Green’s voice perfectly.
Jess Green continues to tour this fantastic show until November so do make sure to check her out when she comes to a venue near you! https://www.jessgreenpoet.com/a-self-help-guide
